About Marc Lee Shannon:

In life, timing is everything…in music; it might be even more than that! And right now the time is right for the self-titled debut solo album from Marc Lee Shannon. A native of Akron, Ohio, Marc Lee Shannon’s musical journey took him to The Guitar Institute of Hollywood in the early 80’s and dropped him right in the middle of LA’s eclectic Alt-country scene where, in between session work, he played with the legendary band The Rave-ups, and shared stages with Dwight Yoakam and the other movers and shakers of that genre.

After ten years in the West Coast music scene he decided a change was in order and, with a new and growing family, returned to his native Ohio where he began to wow club audiences with his new band The Top-Kats.

In 1995 he answered the call for a guitarist who could put a little “sauce” on a track for Michael Stanley’s “Coming Up For Air” album and a long term musical relationship was forged as, soon after, he joined Stanley’s back-up band, The Resonators, of which he continues to be an intricate part. He has also stayed busy on the area club scene as leader of a new blues-based aggregation, The Midlife Chryslers.

Produced by Michael Stanley, and centered around five original Marc Lee Shannon tunes, this is an album forged in dingy dressing rooms, on long dark stretches of road that run from gig to gig, and in the cradle of a safe return home. It’s a piece of work that could only have come from a man whose journey has taken him to the edge and back again.

From the down and dirty roadhouse vibe of Mark Selby’s “What Am I Doin”, through his moving and heartfelt interpretation of John Bunzow’s “Pieces On The Ground” and the film-noir-like attitude of his own “You Take the Money” to the final strains of his well-worn rumination, “Lay Your Money Down”, the eleven tunes on “Marc Lee Shannon” will introduce you to singer, songwriter, guitarist and multi-instrumentalist who, although deeply rooted in the Blues, covers a musical landscape of amazing scope and vision.
